Maddy and Poppy each weighed in at u32kg and were placed in opposite pools. Maddy won 2 and lost 2 contests, placing her 5th at the end of the event, having beaten the eventual gold medalist along the way. Poppy, however, won all 4 contests in her pool, to head into the semi final. There she lost and had to settle for bronze. It was an excellent performance at her first national event.
our travelling fan club was in full swing all day, as can be seen here.
Luke Davies was our final competitor of the day. He has been in great form all year, with his eyes firmly on the rostrum today. He had 7 tough contests in total, but never looked in trouble, handling all situations professionally. He won every round and became National champion. It was a fitting end to his fantastic year.
